Ariana Grande visited Singapore for the international premiere of Wicked: For Good

Passionate fans of the actress are urging that a man who leaped a barrier and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.

A viral footage depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing photographers and charging at Grande while the performers made its way down a promenade flanked by fans.

Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by guards.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being taken in", though court documents revealed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.

History of Disruptions

This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram account includes videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last year.

"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user wrote.

Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being

Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.

"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote another response on Instagram.

Some supporters also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.

Aftermath and Event Details

In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.

Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore fans had waited to greet the actors of Wicked

Hundreds of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as eight hours before it started.

The film, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-film interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two contrasting characters.

The production itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.

They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, winning two for outstanding attire and set decoration.
