Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of This Year Secures a Major Extension for Two More Seasons.
Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the channel launched a fresh animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often characterized by cynicism, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and turned it into a surprise hit.
A Two-Season Greenlight
On December 18th, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.
"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its peculiarly charming sensibility.
"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”
